January 26th, 2013 | 9am-3pm | Pere Marquette Room | Kirkhof Center | Allendale, MI
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., volunteers across America unite on this national day of service. Volunteers will meet in Kirkhof Center and take buses to various work sites throughout Grand Rapids and Allendale to assist the community. This includes schools, shelters, and local parks, among other locations. Transportation and lunch will be provided at no cost. Register here if you would like to volunteer.
GVSU’s service project is coordinated by the Community Service Learning Center and the MLK Week Executive Planning Committee. The goal of the event is to educate students about the Civil Rights movement as well as inspire them to serve their communities in the spirit of social change. Faculty, staff, and students will be serving at multiple work sites around Grand Rapids and Allendale. Please visit www.gvsu.edu/mlk to visit the full calendar of MLK Celebration activities.
